Dave BurkeIndependent Consultant specializing in Community Server Development |
June 02 Signpost to other way stationsIt's been 6 months since I began my Live Spaces experiment of providing another route to my main site at http://dbvt.com. Google still hates dbvt.com for some reason, as a search for "Dave Burke" displays my old blog at weblogs.asp.net/dburke (thank goodness for my old blog), but dbvt.com is nowhere to be seen. I updated the version of my site software, Community Server, three weeks ago, but Google's cached version of my site is from May 14th and not my current version. Community Server does a lot with Url rewriting so I'm hoping the new version will put me in good http standing with Google. As for life changes since the previous January post, I left the company I was doing full-time contracting for and went on my own. I have the good problem of too many projects and too much work. Last night after a normal workday I went into my office and did billable work from 10:00 PM to 2:00 AM. More late nights like those will help me get on top of my project queue. Staying up until 2:00 geeking is normal for me, but I try not to do "work work" at night, but rather more reading, blogging and personal coding projects. Still running every other day. Next month will be a year since I've returned to daily running. I'm currently running 6.5 miles. I was running 7 miles for a while but got too stiff and achy so I dropped it back to 6. Now I'm trying to push up the mileage a bit again. I ran my first half marathon last month, coming in at 2:03. No other races are on the slate, though I want to get on that. No marathons for me this year. I was toying with the idea until I ran the half marathon. I'd like to do more half marathons this year though. I'll be popping back in here sooner than the 6 month interval last time. Thanks for reading. January 27 GreetingsYou've stumbled upon Dave Burke's Windows Live Space. I'm a software developer and independent consultant who specializes in Community Server development. That involves customizing Community Server sites and building add-ons to serve the needs of the online community. I also have the extreme good fortune of doing contract work for Telligent Systems, the company who built Community Server and founded by Rob Howard.
If Community Server is such a fantastic product, why a Windows Live Spaces page? Simple, another point of access, a chance to compare the feature set of another blogging application with Community Server, and free.
Thank you, Microsoft Windows Live Spaces Team, for allowing me to create a Space here and to you for visiting.
-Dave
